Miaoisland 喵島

Founded in 2020 as a handmade ceramics studio, Miaoisland builds its name from the founder’s surname, Miao, the sound of “meow,” and the idea of creating an imagined island through making. The studio begins with small impressions from everyday life, kneading clay by hand and shaping it into flower vessels, serving plates, figurines, incense holders, pudding-shaped vessels, and other objects for daily use. Island creatures are usually drawn without facial expressions, leaving an open area for viewers to project their own feelings. Cat figures appear holding chickens, bears, rabbits, or puddings, with variations including calico, tuxedo, black, tabby, and Siamese patterns. The Fuji Mountain grass-jelly series, colorful glaze series, and magnetic stands extend these characters into tableware, scent-related objects, and practical accessories, with surfaces in off-white, yellow, red, blue, and other glaze colors.
