Working primarily with clay, 91art.studio turns craft materials into practical, playful and inventive objects. The name 91art.studio is derived from “joy art,” reflecting founder Lin Yu-kai’s aim to show another side of craft through usable products. A graduate of Hsuan Chuang University’s art creation program, Lin has also shared his creative experience through an interdisciplinary maker course. The studio’s pictured works include cat-shaped sculptures, horned forms, character-like figures with orange feet, and small cream-toned objects with glossy surfaces. Some pieces are staged among bark, wood, dried grass, fallen leaves, hydrangeas and foliage. Series titles such as “SIRIUS HYDRANGEAS Ver.,” “CLOUDY little secret” and “DON DON” give the objects distinct settings and identities. The studio also explores colourful marble-like patterns, presented with circular colour samples.
