Shoemaker YWC was founded in Taipei in 2017 by Qing-Shan Bao-Zhu, who runs the studio alone after studying shoemaking at Japan’s Nishinari Shoemaking School. Now based in Banqiao, the studio develops indoor slippers, leather sandals and outdoor shoes around actual wearing comfort and individual foot shape. Its all-leather range includes the Original Classic, Double Soft Leather, Foldable, Fully Covered, Woven, Twist and Outdoor Pocket styles, the last featuring a zippered storage pouch. YWC continues traditional hand-sewn construction, including handsewn welted and handsewn McKay methods. After the last and pattern are completed, the maker cuts the uppers and leather components before carrying out the successive assembly steps. Selected shoes can be repaired over time, while custom orders may use a specially shaped last for the wearer. Every pair is made in Taiwan.
