Italian vegetable-tanned cowhide forms the material basis of VentureZac’s leather work. After military service, founder Zac studied art in the United States, then moved to New York for bag design and handmade production for American labels, where he encountered vegetable-tanned leather and detailed handcraft. He returned to Taoyuan in summer 2015 and established VentureZac in 2016. The name combines “Venture,” meaning exploration, with the Taiwanese-sounding name “Yuan Que,” imagined as a bird that flies through colour and takes risks in style. Its range includes leather bags, long wallets, wallets, coin purses, key cases, ID holders and other accessories. Lines are integrated into both the exterior and internal structure, while repeated testing and revisions shape slim, durable forms. The leather is made with an old Italian vegetable-tanning method that preserves natural grain and colour; with use, it develops whisky-like tonal changes. Each piece passes through dozens or even hundreds of processes, with some details treated repeatedly by hand.
