艸一田人 HUANGS STUDIO

Founded by a family in Taoyuan in spring 2016, HUANGS STUDIO takes its Chinese name from a deconstruction of the family surname Huang, linking leather objects with domestic memory. The studio works with natural leather, including Italian vegetable-tanned cowhide in selected pieces, allowing its grain and developing patina to remain visible. Rather than copying household objects, its designs extract forms and uses from a mother’s vase, a pegboard, printed tableware and chair-leg covers. These references become pared-back leather bags and everyday accessories, including the Hole Bag, tote bags, shoulder bags, vase-inspired pieces, dog key rings, bird charms, small pouches and neck-worn storage cases. The Hole Bag is identified by orderly circular perforations, while selected styles use braided handles or distinctive fasteners.
