艸一田人 HUANGS STUDIO

Founded by a family in Taoyuan in spring 2016, HUANGS STUDIO takes its Chinese name, Cao Yi Tian Ren, from the component parts of the family name Huang. The name reflects the studio’s focus on home, everyday details, and memories carried through objects. Natural leather is its primary material, with selected pieces made from Italian vegetable-tanned cowhide. The leather retains its organic grain and develops a changing sheen through use. Rather than copying vintage household objects, the studio studies the forms and practical ideas found in a mother’s flower vase, a pegboard, a patterned dining plate, and chair-leg covers, then translates them into simple leather goods for contemporary life. Its range includes the distinctive round-perforated DONDON bag, tote bags, shoulder bags, vase-shaped designs, dog key rings, bird pendants, small pouches, and neck-worn storage cases. Some DONDON styles feature woven handles or distinctive fasteners.
