Xin Yao, known as BrainHoleSky, builds humorous visual stories around anthropomorphic animals, everyday observations, and accessible science. With a background in life sciences, the artist places animal behavior and factual details inside meme-like situations rather than separating knowledge from comedy. Key works include the uniformed cat series Ling Miao Zhan Ji, the character Xiao Ba Ku Ji, and illustrations collected in I’m Weird but Cute 2. Since sharing animal memes on Facebook in 2019, BrainHoleSky has published two illustrated books and expanded the characters into stickers, postcards, apparel, and licensed graphic merchandise. The work also includes colorful crocodile and shark sticker characters and purple-orange interior scenes arranged around masked figures, curtains, and furniture.
